Mission:
My goal is to provide custom storage solutions to new and existing homes, with as little inconvenience to the homeowner as possible.
I am Steve Freer. I am a carpenter and I have always loved working with wood. I have worked for several home builders and many homeowners. I started my career as a professional woodworker in 1997 when I moved to Santa Monica, CA. I met an experienced cabinet maker through a mutual friend. He offered me a chance to work along side him in a house on Benedict Canyon in Beverly Hills. We milled and shaped most of the rough lumber ourselves. During this time, we focused on mahogany cabinets in both the master bathroom & the walk-in closet. Then we moved on to a coffered ceiling in the master bedroom. I worked with him for approximately 2 1/2 years, then I moved to Murfreesboro, TN.
In Tennessee I got a job with a father and sons interior trim crew. We worked mainly on production type homes. In these houses speed was very important. On occassion we would take on a custom home and even did a showcase home that became part of a local television program.
From Tennessee I moved to Mesa, AZ. I worked for a short time in a large cabinet shop that produced a wide variety of products. The work included peices for Hollywood sets as well as display cases for large commercial stores. After leaving there I took an eight month break from woodworking to help in the restoration of historic automobiles .
I put the tool belt on again when I moved back to Ohio, around the time of 9/11/01. In Columbus, Ohio I became part of a crew dedicated to trim work in custom homes. We worked almost exclusively for the same builder - the largest custom home builder in Columbus at the time. This is were I gained most of my experience with designing and building custom cabinets. I was fortunate enough to build many dens and home offices in the time I worked with this crew.
Then it finally came time for me to realize my ultimate goal - to employ myself with my favorite past time. I have a 27' x 40' garage behind my house that is now my shop. I prefer to do as much work as possible in my shop - including the finishing.
This website shows my most recent work. I have tried to display the most popular and most requested projects.
